Whanganui River Road

Worth the day trip or more, with so much to see and do, this guide is a work in progress.

From a picnic at Aramoana lookout, to a full day walk on the Atene Skyline track the Whanganui River Road is picturesque. Beautifully preserved or restored Historic sites including the convent at Jerusalem (Hiruharama), the restored flour mill at Kawana, be sire to pack your camera.

For the best view of the Awa, we recommend heading north from Whanganui towards Pipiriki, the river to your left makes for safer scenic stops and a stunning drive (or cycle).
