Kaikawaka Reserve

Kaikawaka Reserve

Missing off every guide, don’t miss it off yours.

A short loop (approx 20-30 minutes) through native bush. This track is a trap line and only marked with tape on trees, but hard to get lost (tell someone where you’re going anyway). The trail can be steep and slippery in places, so good shoes or boots are a must.

Bush track looks almost untouched as you navigate over mossy roots, making for a pleasant surprise for such a short walk. Lots of bird song, Piwakawaka, Tui and Kereru were present when I visited.

Getting there:

From the settlement of Rangiwahia, turn into Miangaroa St. The scenic reserve is located a few hundred metres down the no-exit gravel rd with ample parking available.
