White Cliff Boulders

White Cliff Boulders

Less famous than Moeraki, this geological wonder should be on everyone's list to visit.

Access is via a 25-minute walk across private farmland into the Rangitikei river basin. Surrounded by towering white cliffs is a forest with a mystical air. Perfectly round boulders laid around like a Jurassic game of marbles that time forgot.

Mother nature is an incredible artist, offering an exhibition like no other. The varied landscape provides photographers wonderland.

Parts of the walk are down a steep gravel farm track. Sturdy footwear is essential, and water is a good idea, especially in summer. Entry is by Koha (donation).

Getting there:

Turn off SH 1 onto Otara Rd at Ohinaihti, then left into Peka Rd. The car park is at the end of Peka Rd, Mangaweka. Please leave all gates as you found them.

PLEASE NOTE - BOULDERS WILL BE CLOSED FROM AUGUST TO THE END OF SEPTEMBER DUE TO LAMBING TIME
