Waikoko Valley Campsites

Waikoko Valley Campsites

Waikoko Valley Campsites are a series of campsites on Kaimanawa road. The first campsite is a vast gravel carpark, complete with cooking shelter. Further down the road you will find private and scenic campsites. Some accessed directly from the road, others from sign posed access tracks.
At the main campsite, fires are permitted in the designated fire in the shelter. The additional campsites feature a fire ring.

A river runs alongside the campsites and is home to Whio (native blue duck). Care should be taken not to disturb them, especially during nesting. During our visit we also saw Tui and Tomtit.
