Lawrence Campsite
A long drive for not a lot.
Situated at the end of Lawrence Road, 7km from the Napier Taihape road, Lawrence Road is a basic campsite with a shelter and long-drop style loo. The small campsite, suitable for approximately 5 groups, is unremarkable.
The reward of a quiet, out-of-the-way campsite is offset by the long drive in, especially if you encounter other campers, as there is little space to enjoy privacy.
This road is frequented by logging trucks and is unsuitable for motorhomes or caravans. The last few kilometres are very steep and unsuitable for 2-wheel drive vehicles.
A perfect place to stay to get an early start on one of the tracks across the river, but ultimately, Kuripapango is a much nicer spot and not too far away.
