Lairds Bush Reserve

Lairds Bush Reserve
Situated on Mangahoe Rd, 5km from Sutherlands Mangahoe Reserve, Lairds Bush Reserve is well signposted, though not visible from the road.
A short walk up and over the crest of the hill brings you to the 7-hectare bush reserve. Set in a gully, Laird's Bush is well protected from wind and takes approximately one hour to complete.
Enjoy a diverse array of vegetation, including examples of Totara, rimu, and Kahikatea, with wildlife including Waxeye, Kereru, Fantail, and (introduced) Sulphur Crest Cockatoo.
Roadside parking can be a challenge.
Be sure to check out Sutherlands Mangahoe Reserve and Sutherlands Puriri Reserve, also located on the Whanganui-Hunterville route.
