PiriPiri Caves

PiriPiri Caves

Piripiri Caves are one of only a few limestone caves in the Waitomo district with free access to the public. Accessed by a short walk from the roadside car park, a wooden staircase allows a descent into the caves to explore the vast cavern. Be sure to take your torch and camera.

Getting there: Piripiri caves are found on Te Anga road. This scenic route from Marokopa to Pio Pio provides many other short walks to scenic points of interest.

Side notes: This track has a number of steps and therefore is not suited to persons with limited mobility. Dogs are prohibited.
