Ngatoro Track
Not to be confused with the Ngatoro Loop Track, the Ngatoro track runs between the North Egmont Visitor Centre and Mangaoraka Picnic area, near the park entrance on Egmont Road.
This lowland track features multiple unbridged stream crossings as it winds its way through dense bush. Intensive pest control has yielded significant birdsong, including Riflemen, with Tui and Kereru spotted.
The track can be wet in places, especially after rain. Rated as an advanced tramping track, it is well marked.
Expect the track to take between 1 hour and 45 minutes and 2 and a half hours. Return the same way or to a waiting car.
Doc lists this track as part of a loop with the Ram and Waiwhakaiho tracks.
